THE PROJECT

Transit in Imperial Brazil is a diffusion and democratization platform of Brazilian History knowledge. Digital sources will be available, especially the Passports Books, a document used to register the movement of enslaved and foreigners between the Brazilian Empire provinces. The project is expected to build a digital database from the information of these resources and develop educational proposes of activities for primary education. In this first step, data from eight Passports Books of Alagoas Policy Secretary is being prepared, which count more than 10.000 nominals entrees about people that embarked in Jaraguá’s Port, in the city of Maceió, Alagoas province, between 1842 and 1889. In the section “documents,” will be posted the Passports Books of Policy Secretary of Alagoas and São Paulo.
